I believe this to be made in China or Japan, circa 1980's-90's. The only examples I have seen were on ebay and on a Japanese collectors website. looks very much like same period Johnson Ukuleles."CupStar" is the name of a Ramen type instant soup made by Sanyo foods of Japan, and the headstock decal on the Ukulele looks to be identical to the logo on the "CupStar" food products. It is possible that it was a promotional item. (or some Japanese Ukulele Player really liked the noodles!)
