Dobro
Manufacturers of resonator Ukuleles and Guitars. Also see "National". The Dobro Company was formed in 1930 when John Dopyrera left the National resonator company following a bitter dispute over the invention credits of the resonator Guitar. The name Dobro refers to theDopyrera Brothers. When National fell on hard times in 1935, they merged with Dobro to for the National Dobro Company. Dobro saw its end when WW2 caused severe metal shortages and prompted the conversion of most all industry to wartime production.
