Modern, I belive these are made in China for Ashton Music of Austrailia. All of the websites I have seen that sell the Ashton Ukuleles have the same marketing copy. and boast features such as "Complete maple construction" and "Ebonized fingerboard and bridge"
While they may be made of "Complete" Maple, it is a laminate, and the term "Ebonized" is a fancy way of saying "Painted Black".
