French 75 Cocktail #1
2 ounces Gin
1/4 oz Lemon Juice
2 teaspoons powdered sugar
champagne
Shake Gin, sugar, and
lemon juice with ice;
strain into champagne
flute containing one ice cube
and top with champagne.

1 1/2 Cognac
1/4 ounce lemon juice
1/2 tsp powdered sugar
champagne
Shake Cognac, sugar and
lemon juice with ice;
strain into champagne
flute containing one ice cube
and top with champagne.

1/4 ounce Gin or Cognac
1/4 ounce Cointreau
1/4 ounce lemon juice
champagne
Shake Gin, Cointreau, and lemon juice with ice;
strain into champagne flute; top with champagne.
I have heard two similer versions of the origin
of this name. One is that it is in referance to
French 7.5 cm Cannons of WW1, and the other, is
that it is in referance to the 7.5mm bullets used
in the standard issue MAS 36 french rifles of WW2.
